Why Your Commercial Premises Should Have Parking

Posted on: 25 August 2022

As an entrepreneur, you should look for everything that enhances your business profile for your clients and employees. All aspects of your business, including your brand associations, location, and premises affect your business operations. Even the presence or absence of adequate car parking matters.

Below are some reasons you should lease or buy premises with parking for your business.

Health and Safety

A parking place near your business means your employees don't have to walk a long distance from the parking to their workstations. The reduced walking distance enhances your employee's well-being in two main ways. First, the parking lot's proximity reduces the employees' risk of walking through dangerous neighborhoods or alleys to get to work.

Secondly, the short walk from the parking lot to the workstations reduces exposure to unhealthy environments. For example, a distant parking space might expose your employees to various forms of environmental pollution, such as smog.

Foot Traffic

Your clients or customers will also appreciate parking near your business. Clients want to know that:

  • Their cars are safe as they transact with you
  • They can easily carry merchandise to their cars after purchase (in case you deal with goods)
  • They don't have to stress themselves to get to your business

A good parking space is critical if your business depends on foot traffic; having a parking space can increase foot traffic.

Business Expenses

If your business depends on foot traffic, you need parking space whether or not it is on your premises. You might have to rent a separate parking place if your commercial premises don't have a dedicated parking space. For example, you can use a neighboring business' parking space at a fee if their business doesn't require parking during your hours of operation.

Unfortunately, paying two rents for the same business will likely be costlier than paying one rent for premises with parking. Thus, you can reduce your business expenses if you rent a place with parking.

Employee Morale and Productivity

Lastly, your employees will appreciate a parking place on your premises. For example, the employees do not have to factor in the travel time from a distant parking space to their workstations while preparing for work. In addition, your employees don't have to worry about their car's safety. The appreciation is good for productivity and morality.
